Note: Not currently enrolling students. We intend to end our period of inactivity January 2, 2026.

The mission of The Histotechnology School of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is to provide an adequate number of qualified histotechnologists to serve Western Pennsylvania and other areas of the country. The school seeks to design, develop and implement an appropriate instructional program. Students will learn to think more critically and become independent learners. They will recognize their position in the total health care structure and understand their legal, ethical and moral responsibilities to the employers and communities which they serve. This program demands a commitment from both the faculty and the graduate to excellence in professional standards and behaviors. Being located in an academic community, the school is dedicated to excellence in education to produce graduates who will have a comprehensive knowledge of clinical histology and function as competent, informed personnel.
