The Division of Anatomic Pathology specializes in the visual detection of disease from tissue specimens. UPMC pathologists examine cells from organs involved in suspected disease - such as cancer of the liver, kidney, or breast - and analyze their changes and abnormalities.
The Division of Anatomic Pathology is organized into the following Centers of Excellence, each of which specializes in the pathology of a specific organ or system. This Centers of Excellence model enables the Department of Pathology to optimally serve clinical and surgical colleagues with subspecialty pathology expertise.
